FUDforum2Go is a pre-installed, self-contained and compact version of FUDforum that can run from a USB stick, CD-Rom or from any folder on a hard disk. No need to install any software on your system. Just download the +-20MB zip file, unzip it on a Windows PC and you are ready to go.

To start, click on the "FUDforum2Go.exe" executable. A web browser will start and FUDforum's first screen will load. Log in with userid "admin" and password "admin". When done, simply close the browser window and everything will be cleanly shut down.

FUDforum2Go is great for new users who want to see how the software works; administrators who want to distribute their forums on USB or CD-Rom; and developers who want to test, translate and develop patches.

The solution is based on the following software:

* FUDforum 2.8.1
* PHP 5.2.8
* Apache 1.3.35
* SQLite

Download your copy now!

Try this:

Download your FUDforum2Go Appliance Here

Right click on the file and save link.

Best I can do right now, just a short term fix.

Perfect! It took me +- 6 minutes to download. Not bad for a form with database and web sever.

Thank you so much for your help!

Its the least I can do.

Once I have this gremlin killed I can do better but that domain is still valid for another month or so.

By then I should be able to arrange something nicer.

And I still need to speak with you.

I think this qualifies as more better: Download your FUDforum2Go Appliance Here

click on the file name you want, and select "save link" to download it to your hard drive.

I will be adding some other stuff as I progress.

I see there are options for running this with firefox, any hints on how to make that happen?

No idea. See if you can find anything in the documentation at http://www.server2go-web.de/wiki/documentation

The documentation doesn't have much that is not included in the program itself.

I just did not understand where to change that at! But its was right in front of my nose! I had been trying to add it to the autorun.inf file. Or the browser bar, But you add it to the PMS.CONFIG file itself

just replace IEXPLORER with Firefox or one of the others,

And run the program normally!

;--- Please take a look at the www.server2go-web.de/wiki pages for a documentation how to use PORTABLEFIREFOX!!!!!!!!
BrowserType= IEXPLORER

Now to figure out how to use it in conjunction with Fudstyler

Should you be able to access the forum from another PC?

Runs fine, and can access it from web browser on same pc, as 127.0.0.1 but cannot access it from another PC, using the IP address of the PC where the forum is running.

Firewalls disabled, moved port from 4001 to 80 in the config file.

Wierd then, tried it on two different PC's

on the same PC as its running 127.0.0.1/ works, using the ip address of the PC does not 192.168.0.123/

So I am avoiding needing any port forwarding to start with

As this is not a FUDforum limitation, you should probably ask the question on the Server2GO forum. Please let us know if you find a solution.

Did you edit/change the PMS.CONFIG file to read Mozilla (or Firefox)? And do you have those browsers installed on your machine and or set as the default browser?

Hi Witcher, Yes. I'd downloaded FudForum2Gp over the weekend (I hadn't seen this thread at that time) and it worked well (on IE7).

Firefox has been my default for years, in fact, I've never used IE on this machine, found the config file, and noticed that the BrowserType= IEXPLORER, with the options for FIREFOX, MOZILLA etc.

Changing the BrowserType=FIREFOX or BrowserType=MOZILLA does start firefox, for a few seconds, then FudForum2Go server closes down.

Changing HostName=127.0.0.1 to HostName={local_ip} makes no difference, as does changing the port, say to 5353.

Unfortunately there is not much more I can tell you or suggest at this time other than trying a whole new installation as I long ago removed my copy from my computer and am currently over loaded.

If I were to hazard a guess I would suggest trying it with an older version of Firefox (since they recently made changes, so there are perhaps a comparability issue) and ensuring that the installation is in the proper path having access to the browser and vs a vs.

If I find time I will see if I can take a quick look and get back, in the meantime hopefully naudefj will come through with one of his marvelous insights.

Good luck.
