FUD Forum is a very promising forum software. With many features out of the box, and some features you just cant find anywhere else.

But, I have a few suggestions.. Instead of just waiting to see if you guys implement them, I will atleast suggest them Smile

*) Change the default font. Anything, even to wing dings would be better Smile
*) Make the forum just a tad more pleasing to the eyes. Study up on the layouts of some of the other forum systems and you will see what I am talking about.. The main forums, and topics listing just dont give off that nice clean fealing...
*) Template system, instead of hard coding the html into the php.
*) More organized, cleaner, and eye appealing admin panel.
*) More then one "root" account. Some sites have multiple admins, and it's easier to control admin access on a per user bases.
*) Hard to explain.. But, another table over the main one.. This one much thinner.. But, it never changes.. And follows you from screen to screen. With info that you may want to follow you from screen to screen with.. Things like PM notification, Logged in As, Current Time, Total users, Newest User, Total Threads/Posts, etc.

Dont take these ideas personal. FUD Forum has MANY features not found in any other forum software, it is litteraly feature packed. But, alot of this stuff you grow used to in other boards.. The users also grow accustomed to the look and feel of how most of the major board types work.

I do alot of work in PHP and Perl. And if FUD becomes something that looks more mainstream, I would be more then happy to dedicate my time to fix the things myself that I think are issues.

Certainly note worthy suggestions many of which I hope to make possible in upcoming releases.

I can certainly appreciate the need for a cleaner/better looking layout, that is something that hopefully will be solved in the near future.

The multiple root accounts etc, is something that is most definitely on the to do list. I am working on a better permissions system, that would allow for user groups etc and consequently allow multiple people to be part of the "admin" group.

As for the admin control panel it is pretty simplistic in it is layout I admit, however there was little to use as reference since not a single forum admin control panel I've seen is really easy to use even if it looks like a million bucks.
I would be most grateful if some examples, suggestions could be thrown my way.

Templating, to be honest it is something that should have been done, but was not Sad. Hackie (the other FUDforum developer) and I are considering our options in that regard right now as we also want to implement a system that would allow for multilingual support as part of templating.

Bottom line, you've made some very good suggestions and I thank you for it. Hopefully, I can make some of those suggestions a reality.
