Here is another vBulletin features that I like: When creating a new topic in addition to the standard:

 • Post Notification - Notify me when someone replies to this message.
 • Include Signature - Include my profile signature.
 • Disable smilies in this message

They also have an option to

Quote:

 • Automatically parse URLs: automatically adds and around internet addresses.

As you can see just above the word and is shown as a clickable link when in fact it should be shown as [.url] and

it is useful when you have something like http://www.mysite.com or http://www.your_site.com or you just don't want to show the url as a hyperlink.

is there a way to do it otherwise?

If you put the url inside the
tag (example below)
http://fud.prohost.org/forum/

It won't get parsed.

ahhh, the infamous CODE tag! Shocked

it is useful when you have something like http://www.mysite.com or http://www.your_site.com or you just don't want to show the url as a hyperlink.
but as you can see down below this paragraph will be unformatted when I add the CODE tags. which is not like it was before.

Based on the above, if I put the CODE tags aroung the paragraph, I get:

it is useful when you have something like http://www.mysite.com or http://www.your_site.com or you just don't want to show the url as a hyperlink. but as you can see this paragraph is now completely unformatted. which is not like it was before.

Now the paragraph formatting has changed (no more word wrap).

If I put the CODE tags aroung the URL, I get:

it is useful when you have something like
http://www.mysite.com
or
http://www.your_site.com
or you just don't want to show the url as a hyperlink.

Now the paragraph is broken.

Seems like a radio button to turn the feature on/off for the post would be a better solution

Or maybe something like

http://www.myhomepage.com

Actually there is also the [notag] tag Smile

Which you can use without
problems. But there was a bug with this tag, which I now fixed in CVS.

It's not yet documented...

Updated documentation is on my todo, it is quite a bit out of date I'm afraid.

shame on you... Rolling Eyes Don't you just hate manuals!

you've probably spent way too much time trying to defend the CODE vs QUOTE discussion.... Shocked ( Hint: give it up and highlight the CODE Cool - I said highlight, not format Very Happy )

OK, will wait on 2.5.3RC2.

Got any other hidden jewels out there?

yeah, right! me and CVS get along about as good as Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. I'd have better luck convincing you to highlight the CODE selection than I would using that stuff...! Cool

I'll just have to wait for RC2.
