Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted at (null):0 (tried to allocate 3616921 bytes) in /home/virtual/site23/fst/var/www/html/FUDforum2/install_safe.php on line 326

Hi!

I get this error when trying to install 2.3.8 on a new domain.
phpinfo() on http://www.miha.nl/php.php

The script tries to allocate 3616921 bytes (around 3MB) and the memory_limit is 8MB.

I did not choose a newer FUD because 2.3.8 has been running on http://erinn.nl/hoverhofweg and I saw the MySQL database is not compatible between the latest release and 2.3.8. I have a good backup of the complete MySQL database from 2.3.8.

As follow up:
On the same site (a directory deeper) I succesfully installed 2.5.2
Maybe it is easier to explain how to get the old database from 2.3.8 in 2.5.2.
Can I clear all tables completely and then dump the 2.3.8 in 2.5.2?
also I can adapt the table extensions to what they are in the new database, e.g. it was FUD23 and now it is FUD25. Any other concerns, like administrator accounts??
I tried it before and saw compatibilities with fields between 2.3.8 and 2.5.2

Early versions of FUDforum have no work around for systems with a memory limit. If you use such a system you should install FUDforum 2.5.x or higher.

Thnaks for the info!

But can you tell me how I can easily import all data tables, can I skip some of them or should I import them all. Note that there is a difference between the tables between 2.3.8 and 2.5.2.
Right now in my forum there are no dramatic votes, I can loose them, I dont care, there are however posted messages and replies on them some with attachments.

The upgrade process should maintain your data. Manually importing data will almost definately cause problems.
