Since users can turn off all sigs can you set it so users can also turn off all avatars?
How about something like this in the Logged in users list
Latest Post: "Post Title" (Date, Time)
Quick reply box at in topics
Message turnicate after 3,000 characters providing a link to the full msg

Who was online today page
phpBB2 to Fud Forum 2 convertor
Option to not show topics after youve read them until someone replies would be set in profile
Silly altname for users altname(username) would eb set in profiel and woudl show up in memberslist and in posts
SuperMOD would fall inbetween Mod and Admin... They would be able to ban users and some other stuff hehe will think up later
Admin features:
Admin/MOderator Close Thread with Reply option in post Form
Show PHP & MySQL Version Info in Admin Panel
Search for Posts/Threads created by a specific user, since a specific date. Allows admin to open/close, merge, delete, edit to each thread returned
Banned Users List (with reason/date)
Track moderator and admin activites including: closing, opening, moving, and deleting threads.
Get an e-mail if someone is trying to access your Admin CP every time someone is trying to login to the admin cp with no success.

I believe this feature will cause problems in the long run. 1st people won't have access to all of the forum's posting features, smilies,quotes,spell checker etc...
It would also make tree view meaningless because all replies would go under main thread.
Incase you didn't know tree view builds a tree correlating all the replies and messages just like your newsreader does.
For those reasons I don't believe such a feature would be useful.

need a "donation" of a database from from an active phpBB2 forum. Got 1 database dump "donation", more are always welcome...

Would confuse users, since read topics would "dissapear" after being read. I believe it woujld create a GREAT deal of problems & "fake" bug reports.

Custom tags more then make up for this.
