The Tree View representation of a topic shows one posting on the top of the page and the tree representation at the bottom. The shown posting is indicated by a different background color (a slightly darker blue).
This color scheme is not very indicative, also because there is already an odd-even stagger in the background to better separate the different items.
The folder icons, displayed in front, don't seen to transport a real message so far. Therefore it might improve readablity by choosing a different icon for the displayed posting. One obvious choice is too use an 'open folder' style icon for the displayed posting and a 'closed folder' style icon for all the others.

The icons are there merely to indicate of a particular topic has been read or not and if it is locked.
Perhaps, a more 'visible' color needs to be used to indicate the current message instead.
