Hi,

I am trying to figure out how file upload is designed.
When I create a new post and click on "Upload file" button file appeares as NN.atch on a file system even if post has not submitted yet.
After I deleted an attachment by using Delete link I noticed that file NN.atch remains on a file system.
After post was submitted file still remains on a FS.
Post does not show this attachment which is correct because file was removed from post and there is no link to this file in a DB.
My question is - where is a mechanism to delete such files (if there is)
Is there a nicer way to upload only real attachments?

P.S When you delete post - file attachments related to post will be removed from FS.

Thank you,

Igor

If the attachment is removed the forum will generally delete the attachment on form submission. It does not do so right away, to ensure if you accidentally delete an existing attachment while editing the message if you close the browser the attachment won't be lost.
