v2.6.0
IE 6
When replying or quoting, anytime I click on any text area, the mouse will not place the cursor where I picked.
Holding down the mouse on one of the text areas will turn the cursor into a pointing finger.

I've tried replicating the bug with IE 6.0 on Windows XP but cannot. Do you have any 'unusual' IE plugins installed etc...?
What is the exact version of IE 6.0 you are using?

Weird... not sure what this would happen... I cannot replicate nor had I seen previous reports about this. 2.6.0 does not actually change any JS properties of the post box either, so this is rather strange.

More info:
Left-mouse down anywhere on the forum page will cause the "pointer hand" cursor to appear. This only happens when the forum is up. If I backup to my normal web site pages, this behavior does not occur. It is also impossible to view source the forum pages, but backing up to my normal web site will allow me to view source.
It's thie mouse down behaviour that is preventing the mouse from selecting any edit area. It seems the page is trapping the mouse down and not passing the event down to the control.
I've received several complaints about this behaviour from my users, so it must be oming from the forum pages instead of a local browser setting.

Do you have any plugins installed? I mean it's not happening to me @ all I can told the left mouse button for as long as I like and nothing happens.
Find out the exact browser versions of the people who experience this problem.

I can see the problem on your forum, however I am unable to replicate it on either this or my development forum.
I do see a lot more errors/warning in the HTML validation of your posting page then I see in my dev forum. What layout customizations did you perform?

Nothing major at all. Changed a few CSS colors. Added an image to the header. That's it.
Now I did not create a new theme when I upgraded to 2.6.0. I used same theme from the last version you released of 2.5.x. Could this be the problem?
Also, how did you get those validation errors? Is there some undocumented feature in the forum, or are you using a 3rd party utility?
