... not sure if this is the right place to post this.

Let's say one wanted to move a board from site X to site Y (a different hosting company). How laborious would this be, and what method would you recommend?

Would you simply install a new board, then transfer the messages somehow? (How?) Or would you actually try to transfer all the files and directory structures and what not. (I wouldn't think that would work)

Appreciate any help you can offer.

You can either:

1. Transfer all the files and DB content (backup & restore), when done fix-up the symlinks and paths in GLOBALS.php.

2. Make forum datadump, transfer the resulting dump file to the new server and import forum data.
