Hello,

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I upgraded to 3.0.3 and the icons along the top (Members, Calendar, Search, Help, ...) now show up as vertical instead of horizontally. See it here...

http://www.eaglecentral.ca/forums/

Any ideas on how to get that horizontal again?

James

They look 100% normal to me.
Try to reload or clear your browser cache.

Tried that. I've attached an image to show what I mean. This is in Safari on my Snow Leopard Mac. I see the same in Firefox 7. Same thing on Chrome on windows 7.

The issue is that "Members, Search, Help, ..." icons are listed in a vertical list.

Strange, this is how your site looks if I visit it:
index.php?t=getfile&id=6212&private=0

Anyway, looks like you have a custom CSS file that needs to be updated.

Strange indeed. I removed everything in the CSS override entry and it still appears vertically. It changes other things but still vertical. So it doesn't appear that my CSS overrides are causing that.

Look for the "User Control Panel / Top Level Menu" section in the default forum.css.tmpl.

OK, I have it cleaned up a bit. I actually just created two new themes from path_info. That has cleaned it up a bit. But now I have a few new problems:

1) The forum tagline doesn't see to show up.
2) The top icons take up 2 lines instead of 1.
3) The Legend at the bottom is squished when there is a login box. I'd like that to have the login box above the legend so it looks a bit nicer.

Where would I look to touch all these? Is there a map somewhere that describes which files and CSS entries are associated with each element on the page?

Here is a screen shot of what it looks like now...

index.php?t=getfile&id=6213&private=0

Also, how do I get rid of that thin, white line around the forum name?

Welcome to 3.0.3
Firebug tells me that your block around the forum name comes from forum.css (line 798):
 .header { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #5478A4;   color: #FFFFFF;
    margin: 0; }

Try:
 .header {color:#fff; background:#5478a4;}
You may need to change the color codes and arrangement to match your theme or other changes.
Hope that works.

Thanks, that helped. And Firebug is very useful, thanks for that tip too.

Still a few more issues. See attached index.php?t=getfile&id=6215&private=0

1) This is Firefox 7. The name "EAGLE Central Forums" takes up multiple lines and it shouldn't. In Chrome it appears as one line.
2) The forum description doesn't show up like it used to, and I'd like it to.
3) Here the icons are all on one line which is nice, but in Chrome the Home icon is on a second line that takes up more vertical room.

OK, for anyone who runs into similar issues I've fixed most of this. The main problem was that the templates I had for my custom themes were an old version and were referencing some things incorrectly (like javascript files in the wrong location). So I copied the header.tmpl file from default theme to my custom theme, added my custom code into that, and that cleaned up most of the issues.

I also did add a CSS override

#UserControlPanel ul {
        list-style: none;
        float: right;
        padding: 0;
        margin: 0;
        text-align:right;
        white-space: nowrap;
}

So that those icons wouldn't have a line wrap in them and now they are all on the same line.

From what I'm seeing this is a common problem right now, particularly since 3.0.3 seems to be such a big change/improvement.
As per: http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=120184&goto=166060& ;#msg_166060

A couple of things to look out for: PHP 5.1 and MySQL 4 are not longer supported. Sites that use custom themes may also need to sync their templates with that of the default template set (we now use HTML5 and some messages were changed/split up).

As always, be careful, use it responsibly, and backup your site before upgrading.

Enjoy!

Frank
