I'm trying to figure out where all of these people are coming from trying to join my forum. I created it a couple of weeks ago for my private group switching over from Yahoo groups, and I am being swamped by people trying to join. Where are they even getting the web address from, and even more importantly, how do I stop this????????????????????

Enabling Botscout.plugin is a good start.

I also set "Messages Before Allowing Links" to at least 1. This will prevent registering users to immediately embed links into their profiles.

"Moderate user's first N messages" is also very helpful, set it to at least 1.

You can also change the CAPTCHA, even write your own custom CAPTCHA plugin.
