I am downloading a bunch of news groups but I only want the past 2 years from each group. Unfortunately the nntp.php starts from the beginning. So to get the last 2 years I have to download something like 9 years and then turn around and prune the old ones.

Is there a way to have nntp.php start from the most recent and work backwards?

Thanks again for the help,

-Jason

Unfortunately not. If you know the message numbers from 2 years back, you can set it as the starting point for the download. For an example, look for the UPDATE statement at NNTP Manager.

How would you be able to get the trackers? I tried 2 usenet readers and neither showed them. do you have any recommendations?

Thanks again!

Trail and error. Load one message, look at the number, adjust it and load another. Based on the date you adjust the tracker forward or backward until you get the approximate starting point.
