Hi,
I just tried the link in the notify-mail to turn the notification off. It works, even when the user is not logged in. Is this right? Someone can so write a script to turn it off for all postings.

It probably worked because you were logged into the forum.
The calls the thread_notify_del() function with unsubscribes the user works on the basis of _uid, which is the constant defined based on the current user id as authenticated by the forum.

I checked it again and you're right. The failure was, that I logged in after the notify-off-link and don't noticed, that after log-in the referer-page is loaded again.
But I think it would be better to make a message to the user, when not logged-in, with the advise that notify-off otherwise has no effect.
