I'm trying to get fudforum going in conjunction with mailing lists... when I post messages in fudforum, they attemp to go to the mailing list but get rejected because they have blank subjects.

I assumed the post Title would become the email subject when syncing to a list. Should that not be so?

BTW -- this is on Fudforum 2.6.1

That should be the case, can you somehow monitor the e-mails sent by the server to see if infact the e-mails sent by the forum have blank subjects?

The simplest way to do it would be to set the mailing list address as your own e-mail address and see what messages you get.

They appear to have them, but I'll point it at a non-list mailbox tonight and check the headers.

I am also having this issue. I am not munging or filtering anything on the messages coming from the forums and none of them seem to have subjects. Let me know if I can help in the troubleshooting process; I rely heavily upon the mailing list support.

What character set are you using? Have you tried seeing of e-mails go through if directed to your personal e-mail address rather then to the mailing list?

Is there a patch available for the stable release? Or is this something we'll have to wait for the next release to fix?

Patch for CVS, yes. I have a 2.6.1 installation (stable tarball), not from CVS, and that patch generated errors. Hence wondering if there was a different patch prepared for the stable release, or if we just have to wait.

I'll try installing from CVS instead, then.

Just wait if the patch cannot be applied cleanly.

I upgraded to 2.6.1, and noticed that mailing list subjects were blank. I applied the patch (edited the code directly, and then rebuilt theme), and now the message bodies don't show up!

Which bodies do not show up, the ones the forum tries to import from mailing list or the one it sends to the mailing list?

Bodies imported from the mailing list show up as "No Message Body". Bodies sent to the mailing list appear correctly.

What version of maillist.php are you using (this info can be found at the top of the file)?

If you have version < 1.41, then get the latest files from CVS.

I am using maillist.php version 1.40. I just upgraded to 2.6.2RC1 and now the mailing list interface appears to be working again. Thank you!

I hate to ask ... but how do I browse the CVS? The scripts/ directory doesn't contain maillist.php, and I don't see any instructions on how to register for an account.

You do not need an account to access CVS, anonymous read access is allowed.
You can find the instructions at this URL:
