I don't steer work to spammers.

Try a jobs site.

Jerry, are you aware that the US and world economies are in the toilet
and someone has already pulled the handle for the flush?

These are desperate times. Give the guy a break. If you don't want to
help, do nothing. IOW, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything.

Almost 4 years ago I posted asking how to go about finding some
freelance work. Your reply was rather nasty. This prompted Steve
(remember him) to jump in as ask me to send him a sample of my work. I
did and two months later it led to a contract with a Fortune 500
company. It has been 3 1/2 years now and I average about 35 hours a
week at a fairly decent rate. I can't thank Steve enough.

Actually, I should thank you as well because it was the nastiness of
your reply that prompted him to jump in and help. So, Jerry, thank you.

To the OP, this group won't help you much in finding work -- but good luck.

Sheldon, can you imagine what this newsgroup would look like if every
PHP developer out there posted something similar?

At least calling it like it is stops people who read newsgroups before
posting from putting in this crap.

As for your fortune 500 company work - Great for you. I'll bet you even
get $30/hr. Now please get lost.

Yes, true, spam is bad. Guy is desperate or maybe even lazy to search for
job elsewhere so he spams. Times may be desperate.
But Shelly is telling you that you can at least tell the guy that he should
look ways to promote himself elsewhere and not by doing spam. And not to
smack him into the ground for maybe not knowing that or being lazy.

You are the one that would kick someone before warning him? Good luck in
your life with that attitude.

Whats wrong in telling all of that politely... let's try it:

"What you posted here is a spam message and you should look ways to promote
yourself elsewhere".

Now, how bad was that? Did it hurt?

How about you STFU and mind your own business?

As for my attitude - I do quit well, thank you.

I don't work for peanuts like that -- but I won't say just what the
multiple is. None of your business.

Jerry, why do you have an attitude like that? Have I insulted you with
what I said? Did I tell you something on the order of "shove it", which
is what your "get lost" amounts to?

All I have been saying is that there is no need to get nasty with the
OP, and considering our exchanges over the past several years, there was
no reason to do so with me.

Why do have a such a problem with people offering an opinion that
differs from yours -- be it technical or social? I suggest you think
about that.

This is my final comment to you in this thread about this. Say what you
want in response, but I won't be brought down to a nasty level.

Exactly. You said it better than I did.

Indeed, your attitude is a rare pearl :)
