We have a six month corp to corp contract for an experienced PHP/
SR Back end Data Developer. Version 5.2x or newer is preferred. This
contract requires other proven skills listed below. Our client is rated as one of the best companies in the Boston area to work for. This is an early August start.

Job Description: Senior Back-End/Data Developer
We are seeking a talented developer to build, enhance, scale and optimize our back projects. This person is a key part of the team that delivers a core product: Data. This role is a blend of technology and data. Ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, passion for data, extensive development experience, and will be able to get up to speed quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
The Back-end Developer creates and maintains the systems that directly affect the data. This includes development related to (but is not necessarily limited to) the following:
• Acquisition, processing, and distribution of both core and meta-data
• Matching
• Searching
• Tools for Data Operations & Data Quality Analysis
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate possesses the following skills:
• MySQL - Database development expertise including performance optimization knowledge
• Expertise using PHP for complex non-web processing tasks
• Python – Python development experience
• ETL – Experience importing, matching, cleaning, scrubbing large data sets
• NoSql – Cassandra, Mongo, Hadoop related technologies.
• Search Technology – SOLR, Sphinx, etc.
• Object Oriented Development / CS Background - Ideal candidates should understand object oriented development, and apply OO concepts to everything they do. Formal CS background or experience preferred.
• Self-Starter - Looking for candidates who can jump in quickly and not be shy about asking questions
• Computer science degree preferred
Bonus Skills:
PHP5 - Familiar with the latest features in PHP 5.2.X and 5.3.X.
SCRUM - Experience working in an Agile development environment.
ETL Tools – Experience working with either open source or commercially available ETL tools
Experience:
This is a senior position. We are looking for somebody who has at least 5+ years of significant development experience.
