I installed fudforum 3.0.5 this week. I got the 500 error during web-based installation so instead installed using the command line (with no problems). The 500 error persisted. Directories were all 777 and from the error log it transpired my host will not allow this. Parrot's helpful script above changed the file permissions and it all works now.

It may assist others to amend the installation page on the wiki.

Are the concerns above about fudforum automatically changing permissions still relevant?

It looks great by the way!

Thanks
