Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to convert a sporum-forum, over to fudforum.

Afaik sporum (a apt-get debian package) use a mysql-dbase... So is it possible? To convert sporum -> fudforum, that is.

It would be possible if I had access to a datadump of sporum, allowing me to write a conversion script.

Aye, thanks. I'm getting a dump as soon as the person in charge of the forum gets some spare-time Wink

Would you be interested in writing it for Sporum 1.5.1 as well? I can give you a database dump of the VintageKustom.com forum.

Depends on how big it is, if it's under 2 megs you can e-mail it to me directly to ilia(at)prohost(dot)org. Otherwise put it online somewhere and give me a URL to the archive.

Glancing through the file I don't see prompts for the sporum dbase name or anything. Do I install FUDforum telling it to use the Sporum settings or do I install Sporum as a separate entity and it pulls all of the dbase info from SmallPigVars.pm?

You simply need to install FUDforum, unlock it via an admin control panel, put the spforum.php inside the forum's main directory and change the path to the SmallPigVars.pm in it.

Ok, I installed FUDforum and set all the settings, then ran the Sporum converter. It replaced my admin account on the new board (hayfever) with my old admin account from Sporum (Hayfever) and reset the password. Just thought you'd like to know, don't know if it was intended or not.

I have found one possible problem with the converter, maybe nothing can be done about it. All of the posts have lost their formatting (ie paragraphs defined by spacing using enter key are all run in as one long paragraph). If I click edit it shows it as it should be formatted, then if I apply the "edit" (read: no change) the post displays properly.

I get a problem with converting from sporum 1.5.x
Some messages are imported but most aren't.
All attachements fail to be imported also.

I also get a lot of failures like this:

At the importing forums part:
Notice: Undefined index: filesize in www/test.jcwodan.nl/sporum.php on line 220

and at importing messages:
Importing Topics and Messages
WARNING: file attachment /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:\van compu Rob\deskjpg\0072.jpg doesn't exist
WARNING: file attachment /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:\mp3\Cumbat.mpeg doesn't exist
WARNING: file attachment /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:\mp3\Smile.gif doesn't exist
WARNING: file attachment /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/C:\Program Files\napster\Music\Onderweg - Abel .mp3 doesn't exist
WARNING: file attachment /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/C:\temp\courant-3.jpg doesn't exist
(/storage/fudforum/include/theme/default/db.inc:113
/www/test.jcwodan.nl/sporum.php:289
) 1062: Duplicate entry '16' for key 1
Query: INSERT INTO fud26_msg (id, thread_id, poster_id, post_stamp, subject, ip_addr, foff, length, file_id, apr, reply_to ) VALUES ( 16, 37, 21, 949425803, 'gala2000:diner', '192.168.1.21', 19930, 2547, 1, 1, 0)
Server Version: 4.0.18-log

These files that give an error do exist but are stored without the slashes.
for example:
/bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:\van compu Rob\deskjpg\0072.jpg
is really:
/bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:-van compu Rob-deskjpg-0072.jpg

I cheked some things out ...

The first errors are because a wrong value is used..
In the sporum.php "filesize" was used but in my smallpigvars.pm it was "file_size".

And the script chooses wrong filenames..

On my computer the uploaded files are constrcuted as follows:
filename:
D:-mp3-Smile.gif
while the script searches for D:\mp3\Smile.gif

so it gives file not found.

This is the output of my sporum.php:

Try the one attached.

The other two errors you showed clearly indicate that you were still using the old conversion script. The new script checks the path of the file to determine it's location. Had that failed the error would've been D:\mp3\Smile.gif and not /bewaar/sporum/uploaded/D:\mp3\Smile.gif.
The path of the file is retrieved from a database, not made by the conversion script.

Unless the file paths are 'fudged' so that \ are converted to - on the file system there shouldn't be a problem unless a file is missing. The query failure, also should've been fixed by the earlier fix as it was caused by messages with multiple attachments.
