Hi Guys,

some days ago, I upgraded one of my forums from version 2.5.1 to version 2.6.4 and now I'm a litte disappointed... Sad

In version 2.5.1, the layout of the article view was:

left side: author information
right side: article

Now it is:

top: author information
bottom: article

The new layout looks very chaotic compared to the old one and I want to have the old layout back! Shocked

How can I get this back? Sad

TIA,
ikemuc

Hm,

after some searching, it seems, that this is a common problem.

Is it possible to just use the old drawmsg.tmpl file from a 2.5.1 version?

Who has done the change back to the old layout already and can send me the drawmsg.tmpl file?

TIA

You cannot use the old drawmsg.tmpl cause some variables have changed etc...

It *is* possible to change the layout back using the template editor functions within the Admin Control Panel.

I'm afraid I'm not able to point to specific bits because it was too long ago that I did it and I'm really pressed for time but you can see the results at:

http://www.spinalforum.com/talk_with_the_experts/quarterly_forum

This particular installation unfortunately had to be squashed into a narrow "page" - it alomost works but it less than ideal!

There isn't really any documentation on this section but if you persevere it begins to make more sense and gets easier. Ilya does a fantastic job if you work with him...

Hope this helps!

Hi Chris,

hey, this looks good! Smile

Would it be possible for you to post the relevant part of the template?

It's the section "message_entry" in drawmsg.tmpl.

This would be really great! (I've spent already about 2 hours to reconstruct the old layout, but didn't get it to work...)

TIA

Hi there,

I have this in that section:

---
<tr>
<td class="MsgSpacer">

<table cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 border="1" class="MsgTable">
<tr class="MsgR2">
<td width="20" class="msgud" rowspan="3">
{TEMPLATE-DATA: user_link}<br />
{TEMPLATE-DATA: avatar}<br />
{TEMPLATE-DATA: dmsg_user_info}
</td>
<td valign="top" align="left" class="MsgR1"><font class="MsgSubText"><a name="msg_num_{VAR: m_num}"></a><a name="msg_{VAR: obj->id}"></a>{TEMPLATE-DATA: msg_icon}{VAR: obj->subject}{TEMPLATE-DATA: rpl}</font></td>

</tr>
<tr class="MsgR2"><td class="MsgR2"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="MsgR3">
{TEMPLATE-DATA: poll}
{TEMPLATE-DATA: msg_body}
{TEMPLATE-DATA: drawmsg_file_attachments}
{TEMPLATE-DATA: modified_message}
{TEMPLATE-DATA: signature}
{TEMPLATE-DATA: report_to_mod_link}
</td>
</tr>
{TEMPLATE-DATA: message_toolbar}
</table>

</td>
</tr>
---

I haven't reviewed it I'm afraid - too flat chat!

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi folks,

Just thought I'd tell you about our latest public release of FUDforum - which also uses this layout but this time in a stretchable, wide page:

http://www.developmentgateway.com.au

This is an Australian federal government site that is part of a network coordinated by the World Bank.

Thanks, Ilia, for creating such a good product! That's two government sites in Australia that use FUDforum now!

Chris
BTW the CMS on this one is Jahia. The OS is Debian.
