I also get an error on step 4 of installation (FUDforum v2.6.8 Release Candidate #3 and FUDforum v2.6.7), but mine comes when clicking "next" to continue to step 5.

Browser says "Connection closed by remote server".
My Apache's error log only shows:
[Thu Nov 11 09:44:36 2004] [notice] Parent: child process exited with status 3221225477 -- Restarting.
[Thu Nov 11 09:44:36 2004] [notice] Parent: Created child process 4060
[Thu Nov 11 09:44:36 2004] [notice] Child 4060: Child process is running
[Thu Nov 11 09:44:36 2004] [notice] Child 4060: Acquired the start mutex.
[Thu Nov 11 09:44:36 2004] [notice] Child 4060: Starting 10 worker threads

I tried to trace the problem with APD PHP Debugger, but the process seems to die before having written a single byte in the trace file.

Systems were Apache 2.0.49 with PHP Version 5.0.1 and Apache 2.0.52 with PHP Version 5.0.2, both with PHP installed as Apache module.

Never had this problem with any other script before...

This is a bug in PHP 5.0, which causes PHP to crash on the template compilation step. Can you please try a later version of PHP 5?

5.0.2 currently is latest stable and that's the version I tried. Is there already an entry in PHP's bugtracker (http://bugs.php.net) concerning this problem or does a workaround exist?

On my productive system, I'm running PHP 4.3.x without problems.

BTW: Thx, Ilia. FUDforum is great.

There are several crash bugs in 5.0.2 that were fixed in CVS, you can always try a PHP 5 snapshot from http://snaps.php.net/
If you still experience a crash with those, please open a new bug report on http://bugs.php.net

With latest CVS of PHP 5.1, installation hangs after Step 5 (creation of admin account):

Zitat:

DUPE: SECTION -> ERR_emailconf_ttl found in
/opt/httpd/htdocs/fudforum/data/thm/default/tmpl/err.tmpl
(now parsing /opt/httpd/htdocs/fudforum/data/thm/default/tmpl/login.tmpl)

@Ilia:
Yes, this one using the ERR_emailconf_ttl_l, ERR_emailconf_msg_l templates instead of ERR_emailconf_ttl, ERR_emailconf_msg did it.
