As admin only I can approve new registrations.
I want to let someone else be able to approve (and delete/ban) new registrations (e.g. when I am away).
I don't want to make anyone else an admin because that would give them power to mess up things on my server on which I have other websites (e.g. if they change Data Root that might cause havoc, or if they enable pdf Complete Forum Output that could overload the server), and also to mess up forums other than the ones they moderate.
Is it possible to give a moderator limited admin powers, or to make someone an admin and restrict their permissions? The main power I'm interested in is approving new registrations (and power to delete/disable users) though I might think of others.
Thanks
Simon Child

My computer, windows 2000pro, I can't install programs or anything because it said I do not have enough rights, saying user with administrator rights can do it- the problem, I cant logon unto the account with admin. right or create a new one because I don't know the administrator's password for me to have those rights.
My question is:
* How do I create a new user that would would have administrative rights and access without loggin onto the admin.-so to do it from the limited users or restricted users group. I know this can be done, but I don't know how.
I stumble once upon a website,( Unf. I don't remember that web either) It tells you how to write a few code in notepad and save it as a .bat file and open it, then it creates for you a new admin.
* Can it be done in Dos- I just used the "net user admin /add" and it adds an account called admin, how how do I apply rights to that account, did it go some where like this, "net user admin /localgroup/ administrator/ add" or what? I try that but not work. Some expert here can help me out creating a new account with administrative control withoutlogging into the admin. accounts with admin rights already?
Please help me, I'm locked out of my own computer!
Thanks guys

Sorry about your problems, in case you haven't figured it out, this has nothing to do with creating an admin user in the fudforum software. Check the context before you reply to something you found in a google search. Things aren't always as they first appear. Do a google search for a tool called called chntpw.
