I have version 2.6.1 with mysql 3.23.58 at the moment, and when they went to repair the database, it reported that fud261_index.MYI is corrupt and cannot be repaired. I notice that it is also pushing 23 megabytes in size! I also notice that there are other fud261_index files: a .MYD file, and a .frm file. I tried renaming the corrupt index file to bad_fud261_index.MYI, and doing so did not seem to disrupt my forum. Why? Can I delete that file? What role do the index files play? I know that WITH the corrupt index, virtually all of my older posts were trash.
