How to show topic title in last message info on index? [message #23199]

Hi,
I would like to show the name of topic that goes with the last message in the last post entry on the forum table on the index page. I can't find a comprehensive list of variables/templates and randomly plugging in message related template data is not doing anything. Does anyone know how to do this?

You need to modify the query in thread.php.t to retrieve it.

Sorry, I am new to php. I understand how to insert the variable once it is available, but where and to what do I change the query? This is in thread.php, correct?
