I stumbled across FUDforum by accident. After a little tinkering, I got it running great ('unlock' forum feature set all the permissions to 666, causing internal server error. Once permissions set to 644 on all the files it was fine)
'Selling' factors for me:
1 - Newsgroup / Maillist
Flawless!
2 - Clean
Not cluttered like phpbb
3 - Appears to be a work in progress
Which is a good thing, upgrades mean active development
4 - Spellchecker
Would love to see:
1 - More publicity for FUDforum
I can help there - a little
2 - Centralized theme repository
I can help there too, if one is not available.
3 - CMS integration
I read a few posts on this and would love to be able to
integrate the forum with XOOPS. It looks like it may be
possible and will have to work on it.
I'm going to do a little more tinker around, but it looks like phpBB is going by the wayside on my site!
Hats off on a great job -- Awesome forum!
(Where can I drop a couple paypal bucks?)

The forum provides a number of ways to access and even modify it's data from external sources. XML/RSS feed, FUDAPI series of functions for working with FUDforum data directly and single_login function to log users into the forum. By using any of the above or their combination you can integrate fudforum into virtually ANY application.
