I've noticed a high number of anonymous users or guests late at night. When there might be 3 or 4 members online, there might be 2 dozen or more anonymous users. When checking what people are doing, under "Time" which I assume means the time the user first entered the forum, the anonymous users will be fairly evenly spaced, from as little as one second apart to almost minute apart. The forum is locked down so anonymous users can't access anything but the FAQ.
Could these be web spiders from search engines? If so, why so many so often? Any other ideas what they might be?

It is either search engines or proxies, those don't keep cookies or sessions so each page request appears to be comming from a different anonymous user.
