I ran into space disk problem with my forum. I thought compacting messages was the solution, and after many problems I finally got the compress feature working.
This did nothing to solve my space problem. A quick look in cpanel revealed that the file "php.core" in the main forum folder was over 150megs!!! A week ago it was at 80 megs or so...
I went and renamed the file, and the forum seems to be working fine. I backed the file up and got rid of it on the server, and everything is going fine still.
My questions:
- what is the php.core file?
-what info does it contain?
-why did its weight increase that much?
-why is my forum still working despite deleting the file?
-is it ok to delete this file?
Thanks
Steeve

That file is NOT a forum file, it is a memory dump generated by your system in response to a PHP crash. You can safely remove this file.
