Just a silly idea (which just might not be a silly idea)...

Have you ever thought of a re-packaged version of fudforum as a web based queueing tool - a "middle man" for system-to-system message exchange (along the lines of MQSeries)?

Would need a mechanism to receiving messages reliably. There is HTTPLR (http://www.dehora.net/doc/httplr/draft-httplr-01.html) but that's just a draft spec. Probably more realistic to use the approach described here: http://www.prescod.net/reliable_http.html

Otherwise would probably mean re-packaging "forums" as "queues" and I guess "discussions" would only need a single thread.

Otherwise you've got the API and the admin tools (and the RSS and other buzz) so it's probably not a far cry from where fudforums is now.

Imagine that's something that could be an earner.
