I attempt to email a user with a name beginning with a ! and I receive the following error message. Is it the ! or could there be another problem? I can email other people. I wonder if they are receiving PM notices...

What version of the forum are you using and what is the value of the alias field in the database for this user?

I have upgraded to RC2 and the problem persists. I have renamed the username and the alias and I have retyped the email address. All of these do not seem to help.

Hrm... all I can say is that I am unable to replicate the problem on my development forum running on MySQL with the same login name.

Can you find this user by their login via member search?

Update. The "add buddy" link in their profile doesn't actually do anything. However, if I go to the buddy page, I can add it manually.

Actually, I just verified that I can't add any new buddies with the add buddy link in their profile pages. I have to do it manually.
