Good morning.

Is it possible to insert advertising banners within a post?

It would be ideal if this could be done by some sort of script.

But I'd like to know if it can also be done manually.

Thank you for any advice on this matter.

Smile

You can quite easily add banners by editing your templates (Admin CP -> Template Editor).

Best regards.

Well, I just had a look. Wow! It sure does allow enormous flexibility in making changes to one's message board!

However - being pathetically non-technical Sad - I feel a bit daunted by this section.

Would someone like to suggest which of headings I should open up to look at?

Thanks. Shocked

If you want to add ads to inidividual posts you need to edit drawmsg.tmpl template that governs message drawing.

Okay. Thanks for that pointer.

When I go that section, I am offered a whole lot of further options.

From their name, I can see that some of them are clearly not what I need to go into.

But I can't work out which of these I should try to alter. None of them seem to indicate that they are about the area in which the posts are found.

Would it be possible to help me zero in further please?

You are looking at drawpmsg (private messages) not drawmsg (regular messages).

Oh, right. Thanks.

I've now gone to the "drawmsg" section.

Here is the list of options I get:

I tried opening "message_entry" because it looked like the most likely candidate.

This is what I find in the text area that is presented ...

Am I on the right track?

Whereabouts within here do I insert the coder for my advertising banners, please?

Thanks for any assistance with this. Smile

You are very much on the right track. You want to put your banner code somewhere in the <td colspan="2" class="MsgR3"> block.

It seems like drawmsg.tmpl» message_entry is on another place now.
I try to set one ad after the first forum/thread/topic/post.

Can somebody help?

You probably need to edit msg.tmpl which is what displays all the messages, rather then drawmsg.tmpl that deals with drawing of message content for every message.

You are right. This is the actual method for adding the banner code to your ads in your websites. By this method the banner ads will automatically embedded to each posts. It is one of the effective method of advertising.
