My forum is corrupt again.

Symptoms as follows:
1: Hosting company said they were making unspecified changes.
2: Posts started running onto others. One post in a thread, rather than containing its body might contain the next three posts bodies.
3: I made a change in the admin section which killed everything. It looks like for some reason GLOBALS.php got truncated to 0 length. I attempted to recreate a GLOBALS.php file from a default install.
4: Running the consistency check meant I got an error on all pages the main index page version was "value passed to each not an array on line 220".
5: Running rebuild themes truncated index.php to 0 length.

Any clues as to the root cause?

Will a reinstall/upgrade be safe and keep existing posts?

Assuming my backup worked, but has some sync problems with message body locations in the files and in the DB how can I sync them? I don't think the forum consistency check checks that.

Try to run the upgrade script, it will not remove messages.

Thanks. Running the upgrade script then deleting the threads that were corrupt seems to have fixed things.
