On my site (http://www.bythedrop.com/forum2/) Firefox displays everything fine. However, IE does it a little different.

When searching for the word 'test' (or any word) and clicking on a thread found in a search, an IE popup gripes 'Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site: "

It seems that IE is cutting off the #msg portion of the URL. So instead of opening:
http://www.bythedrop.com/forum2/index.php?t=msg&goto=21816&S=4f1dce ed20bf420a0f3aa1136e5b0278&srch=test#msg_21816

IE tries to open:
http://www.bythedrop.com/forum2/index.php?t=msg&goto=21816&S=4f1dce ed20bf420a0f3aa1136e5b0278&srch=test.

This error occurs with other computers and I can't duplicate it on other FUDforum sites.

The problem lies in your http://www.bythedrop.com/xaramenu.js script that does not appear to handle hashes in the URL.
