The "Most users ever online" field keeps resetting. So for a few minutes it will be lets say 5 users. Then when there are 10, it lists 10 users. Then after a bit when there are 8 users on, it changes to 8 users... How/where is this controlled and how can I fix?

You can see from the below image (we have had many more than one user online during the life of the forums):
index.php?t=getfile&id=2744&private=0

Thanks for any assistance.

You need to check your settings that control the age of the stats cache in the admin panel. I suspect it is set to a high value and therefor never updates.

Can you please be a bit more specific? Which settings control the age of the stats cache? I know where the table is in SQL - I just don't know where the setting is or the value I should use.

Thanks for any assistance.

The setting is in the forum's admin control panel, not the database.

Is it "Forum Info Cache Age:"? If so, whats a good number to put in there?

Thanks!

I would like it to last at least 30 days like phpBB does - I mean it is the most users ever online. Any idea what 30 days would be or even 1 year?

The cache is not about how long the data is stored, but rather about how often it gets updated Smile

Ah. Well then is there any way to make sure that it only updates "up" - meaning that the number only changes as more users are added rather than less? I want it updated all the time, yet I don't want it to go from 75 users to 2 every other day. I would like it to got from 72 to 74 to 78, etc - thus keeping the true number of most users ever... Can this be done? If so how?

Thanks for any further assistance.

If you set the value to 0 it'll get updated all the time. The data is only updated "UP" so you won't go down from 75 to 2.

might as well troubleshoot this while I troubleshoot the rest of my issues...

The forum says this:
Most users ever online was 4 on Wed, 12 August 2009 03:15

Last night on Tues, August 11 2009 I saw 20 people online. Thats what I mean by "resetting". Also I know a few years ago we had up to 500 people browsing our forum at one time so a MUCH higher number should be the permanent most users ever...

Any idea why this is happening?

I also just noticed that the current time is way off on the forum... Not sure if that has anything to do with the issue. I verified the timezone is correct...

Did you read and try all Ilia's recommendations?

Is your server's date and time correctly set? Did you check both the timezones of the forum and your user (Control Panel)?

I did set the Forum Info Cache Age: to 600. And just to test I spent some time watching and the Most users ever online was 7 on Wed, 12 August 2009 06:30, yet the Most users ever online was 6 on Wed, 12 August 2009 06:32. I'm probably missing something easy as I usually do.

Regarding the time issue, I believe it is a server issue. Thank you and sorry for not checking first.
