I can't wait to get FUD installed on my site. Going to try and upload it very soon.

I've looked at alot of BBS but none of them compare. Looks like it will be FUD for me.

Got over the latest bump in the road today. My hosting service is running the latest version of MySQL. I picked up a copy of WS_FTP to make up loading easier.

I will let you all know how it goes with the instalation. Thanks for being there.

I must be missing something. Don't I just upload which avatars I want to the avatar directory? I get permission denied...

Hello again,

My Fud is working great now. I few items that don't seem quite right. Whenever I go to my forum after a day or so I have to re-login. Is there a setting I can check.
The other weird thing is that I can't "highlight text" like if I wanted to copy and paste some part of my post from the bottom to the top, I get a zero with a slash???

thanks for any help

Normally the cookies set by FUDforum expire after 7 days, you can increase that number to a larger amount via the Admin Control panel.

Not sure about the copy paste problem, never experienced it myself.

Ok, I see in my A.C.P.

Cookie Timeout = 604800

Session Timeout = 1800

These numbers must represent seconds, I'll change my Session Timeout to 604800.

As for the cut and paste thing, here's a link to my board if you want to check that out from your end.
http://www.scoutswest.com/fforum/www/index.php?

Thanks for the quick answers.

Cookie Timeout represents the number of seconds after which the cookies set by FUDforum will expire. By default the value is set to 604800, which is 7 days.

The session timeout represents the number of seconds after which the sessions will expire (alternative to cookies), byt default the number is 1800, which is 30 minutes.

The manual does explain those in detail Wink

I've set my both time outs to 604800 (7 days) yet still have to login every day to get to my forum.

Any ideas?

Aha! That is the problem.

Everytime you login on another PC you logout your exisiting sessions on all other computers. In FUDforum 2.2.2 (CVS) there is a global option that allows you to disable this functionality.

Ah Ha!! Looks like I'm in need of another up grade.

CVS??? I'm sure this sounds pretty dumb but what is it, I mean I understand what zip files are all about, you need the WinZip app. to compress and uncompress files. What about CVS? Do I download an App from http://www.cvshome.org/ and treat go from there? Thanks for any input on this too.

If you are not sure what CVS is, it is probably best if you want another day or two until version 2.2.2 comes out, then you'll be able to download the easy to use upgrade script Smile

Welp, I up graded (from 2.0 to 2.2.3) went nice and smooth, even fixed my little editing bug mentioned earlier on this thread. One snafu, I seem to have lost the logo/link I had in my header. I checked the header script and the last few lines look the same as in 2.0

</head>
<body topmargin="2" leftmargin="2" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2">
<?php if( !$GLOBALS['PLAIN_FORM'] ) { ?>
<a href="http://www.scoutswest.com">
<img src="/fforum/add_ons/sw_logo.gif" height=50 width=51><? } ?>
<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"></a><tr><td class="ForumBackground">
<?php if( !$GLOBALS['PLAIN_FORM'] ) fud_use('usercp.inc'); ?>

My sw_logo.gif is still where it was, what am I missing?

Thanks for all the great support with this great board.

I know this file is there somewhere, but can't seem to find it. What Dir. should I be looking in? I'm pretty sure I can use the Fud file manager to copy and maybe edit this file, correct??

thanks for all the help.

Embarassed
There it was just like you said, I didn't look hard enough.

I added in 2 lines of html:

{MAIN_SECTION: header forum page header}
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>{GVAR: FORUM_TITLE}{VAR: TITLE_EXTRA}</title>
{META-CONTENT-LANGUAGE}
<script language="javascript" src="lib.js"></script>
<link rel="StyleSheet" href="{THEME_ROOT}/forum.css" type="text/css">
</head>
<body topmargin="2" leftmargin="2" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2">

<a href="http://www.scoutswest.com">
<img src="/fforum/add_ons/sw_logo.gif" height=50 width=50>

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="3" cellpadding="5"><tr><td class="ForumBackground">
{MAIN_SECTION: END}

Must be missing something, I double checked "/fforum/add_ons/sw_logo.gif" and it is there. Should I sitck my sw_logo.gif in the the "...thm/default/tmpl/" dir. Or do I have my added html in the wrong spot?

sorry for all the dumb questions..

That should have worked, there is no need to copy the image else where, are you getting a broken image on your pages?

Can't be helped, there is a backup inside errors/.backup dir, so you can restore the change pretty quickly.

sorry but I'm still lost. I see the header.inc file in "backup" do I rename it "header.tmpl" and replace my current "header.tmpl" with the "new" re-named file?

You open the backup file and copy your changes into the current file.

Quote:

I open ...errors/.backup/header.inc

and copy my changes

</head>
<body topmargin="2" leftmargin="2" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2">
<?php if( !$GLOBALS['PLAIN_FORM'] ) { ?>
<a href="http://www.scoutswest.com">

<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"></a><tr><td class="ForumBackground">
<?php if( !$GLOBALS['PLAIN_FORM'] ) fud_use('usercp.inc'); ?>

into the current file? That must be ...header.tmpl, which is where I added the above, but I didn't copy it from the backup, I had a copy on my PC.

I'll compare the two and see if I am missing a comma or two.
