A friend (yeaa right) of my have an Ikonboard forum and I think it really sucks. I will suggest him to convert to FUD but of cource there is a problem! I wouldn't like to miss all posts. Is it possible to get a converting program? Is there any allready?

There is currently no conversion program from Ikonboard to FUDforum, however if your friend is interested I can definately write one. All I need is a data dump of his current forum.

When I say datadump, I am refering to any data stored in a database or on the harddrive that relates to the forum.

The thing about ikonboard or should I say unkoboard, is that you can coose between mysql, pgsql and flat file. In 90% of cases people use flat file. It might not be easy to make a converter to fud since fud only runs on mysql and pgsql (Not too sure about pgsql). Maybe fud could have a flat file option, because you can't upgrade a flat file unkoboard to fud if you don't have sql. Razz

You can forget about a flat file support for FUDforum it is ineffecient and slow.

If people will want to upgrade, they will need to choose either pgsql or mysql.

i have an ikonboard forum on my site but i am tried of it. ikonboard is just too buggy.

if i could seamlessly convert from ikonboard to fud without my users noticing the switch then that would be great. i currently use the flat file setup because my board is rather small but i can put together an example mySQL board, tar it up, and send it to whomever would be willing to make a converter. just let me know who i should send it to, what you would need, and what address i should send it to.

Send me the datadump of your forum including any non mysql data that ikonboard stores on disk and I should be able to write an Ikonboard conversion scripts within a few days.
