Is there any way (currently) to either set a flag so when you have edited a mail that it updates there read/unread flags so people know something has changed in the post?

Or an alternative is to add a moderator button that allows them to flag is at unread or simillar.

Yes, I do understand some complications with this, like the link to the latest post will be kinda wierd if the main message is edited in a thread with alot of reply, then the link would point to the first message.

But personally I dont see this as a problem, not if its a feature that one is able to toggle etc, so only those that want to use it will have it, and those that would be anoyed by it can skip it.

I'll give this idea some thought, but it won't part of the upcomming FUDforum 2.2.2 release, that is certain.

In addition to the 'problem' you've mentioned with confusing users, it would also require quite a bit of backend code to implement this feature.
The small benefit of this feature would not be worth the amount of code needed to implement it, unless I can come up with a better alternative.
