my server went down and I lost the lease of my ip address. I can't access my admin control panel to update the ip address. Is there a way to edit it dirctly without going through the browser interface? Confused

The admin control panel uses cookies no IP addresses, simply login and you'll be fine.

I try to do that, but every time I enter my username & password and submit it I get a "page cannot be displayed error". When I view the source for the logon page it shows old http:// ip addresses for every src= line. So, I can't get a new cookie because it tries to contine on to my old ip address which obviously does not work.

I tried changing the global.php entries to reflect my mew ip address, but the index.php file still has the old ip address links?

Cookies cannot be set for IP addresses. You can change URL of the forum by modifying GLOBALS.php, but to be completely honest I do not understand the nature of the problem you are having.

I have directly edited the global.php file to reflect my new ip address, but for some reason it does not seem to be reflecting the changes when I access the index.php to try to logon. Do I have to force it to update somehow? I have rebooted the server and reverified that the global.php file was still showing the changes, but still not getting updated information to the web browser?

You need to rebuild the templates using an admin control panel, that'll make the change take effect on all pages.

I got it to work...I had to manually update all of the urls in ..\theme\login.php

Then I typed in the url for the login page "..index.php?t=login" to ensure that I actually got there with the browser.

The page loaded correctly with the updated template file.

I then logged on to recieve the cookie.

Once I got it...I typed in the url for the admin control panel, while keeping the cookie info, into the browser and whalla...the control panel loaded!

I "set" the global configuration in the contro panel and now I am fully up and running.

Key lesson learned... Globals.php does not get published to the template files unless "Set" is used in the control panel Smile

Thanks for your help
