I am trying to make a custom theme, all i have done so far is. I replaced the files in the directory

themes\<name of custom theme>\images

the files i replaced are, new_content.gif, existing_content.gif, tableHeaderbg.gif, tableHeaderbg3.gif

anyways, there was no problem doing that... the problem comes, when i tried using the templete editor from the admin control panel, i went to edit the forum.css section and edited link_color and visited_link i think were the names of them. Once i changed those and hit the save changes button, for some reason it keeps replacing the files of the perviously mentioned names with copies of the orignal default ones. Am I doing something totally wrong when it comes to making a custom templete or something? Or should i just edit the forum.css by hand and not be using the one form the control panel?

You should've changed the images inside thm/default/i18n/language_of_choice/images
then after recompiling the theme the new images you've uploaded would appear.

Is it not possible to have multiple themes setup for a forum then? If I had multiple themes on my forum with different images for each one what would I do? I don't understand why it recopies the images from the default theme everytime I edit a differen theme. I am trying to slowly develop a new theme for my forum but at the same time have the orignal one available as a default so users don't have to deal with me constantly changing the one i'm working on. And its a bit anonying having to upload the images everytime I edit something using the theme editor inside the control panel.

and wow was i tired when i made the orignal post, the topic should say problem, not program, duh.

Also, while i'm here, not sure if this is a bug or if its documented somewhere. But i tried making a new smilie on my forum, and noticed that you can't use the < character as the first character in the text shortcut for it, ie. <: everytime i tried it just noticed the code.

You can have as many custom themes for a forum as you like.
Each theme will have it's own set of images.
