In FUD Forum, I am aware that users can receive e-mail notification once their messages have been replied to.

Is it possible though within FUD Forum to notify a moderator
via e-mail each time a post is made? What about an e-mail
notification for the moderator queue, something that lets the
moderator(s) know when messages are waiting their approval?

Currently moderators are required to login to the board to see
if messages have been added or if messages are in the queue.

None of the things you ask for can be done without source code modification.
As far as notification for message approval goes, there are usually a lot fewer moderators then there are users who can post A LOT of messages quickly. You do not want to fill the moderator's e-mail box with hundreds of message about topics pending approval.
