Are you using the RC version on purpose? I haven't seen your other posts, so I don't know if you know you're using a beta/test version of the software. The most recent stable release is 3.0.4.

I'm not a developer/expert of FUDforum, but I'm using it in the same kind of environment that you are, so I won't comment on whether you should change the code or not.

I will say that there's nothing wrong with resetting the files to the right permissions for you, and then staying away from things that mess w/permissions. Or use them, but just know you're going to have to fix them after.

Those permissions probably make sense in other worlds, but don't here. We should have a place where we specify what permissions things should be set to.
