Why not, this would be changing functionality that has worked the same since version 0.95 of the forum and to be honest I see no secret information in the user's profile I'd want to hide. Each user already has an option to hide their email address. Unconfirmed users as well as guests cannot use forum's built it mailer to send email to those users.
