We been using the mailing list gateway feature for a while. When users include lots of smileys in their messages and use them to write a 'rebus' message (example: http://percebu.baja.net/fud/index.php?t=tree&th=148), when the messages appear on the mailing list they are almost unreadable without the smileys (we have lots of custom ones). I was wondering if when messages are sent to the mailing list, the smileys could be replaced by their ALT tag text instead of just blank space? It would make these messages a lot more readable in plain ASCII on the mailing list.
Thanks.

Actually when converting messages to plain text (done before posting to mailing list) the smilies should be replaced with their corresponding codes that are originally used to insert the smilies into the message.

I am also using Phoenix browser, however I am using it under linux and as you can see it has no such problem. Give that I see this only happening to you, I am guessing this has to do with the browser 'remembering' the value of the title field and automatically inserting it there.
