I'm still trying to puzzle out the relationship between the procmailrc file and the maillist.php script used by FUDforum to process incoming mail. I was able to get the system to work on a test server that I control, but I haven't been able to get it to work on a hosted system yet.

Here's my guess about how the system basically works:

  • the procmailrc file checks incoming email for a specific mail account
  • when an incoming email is found, the maillist.php script is run
  • the maillist.php script adds the email to the specified forum, and deletes the email

Is this more or less correct?

Thanks. -Steve

Almost, except that mailist.php does not delete the e-mail. Procmail simply does not forward the e-mail to your mailbox, meaning that it only goes to the mailist.php.

Thanks, that's good to know!

That leads to another question, but I'll post it as another topic. -Steve
