The specified MySQL server is running version "0", which is older then the minimum required.

That's interesting. I'm trying out this forum software. The system that it is on has a currently working phpBB2 forum. The system has Apache2 and the latest MySQL. XP Pro latest patches.

A forum search and google search turned up nothing on this

Well I edited the install.php file so that it thought it had the right version of MySQL and it worked fine. (Using version 5 Alpha of the MySQL software)
