Hi.

If I make a Fud forum backup on my 2.6.1 installation and then install a newer version such as 2.6.4, can I then import my backups to that version? I'm looking for a seamless upgrade path Smile

Applying the upgrade to my install might be a bad idea as there have been quite a few edits in the meantime.

You can only do dump/import between identical versions.

Okay thanks for that.

If I do a datadump, does it also dump all my src files? Which would mean that installing a fresh 2.6.1, loading the data and then doing an upgrade would leave the files just as messed pre upgrade as they are now?

Thinking about it I know which files I've changed. I can get a fresh copy of 2.6.1 and replace the ones I've changed with the versions from it. The changed files are:

./src/postcheck.inc.t
./src/cookies.inc.t
./src/post.php.t
./src/mvthread.php.t
./src/root_index.php.t
./src/report.php.t
./src/mmod.php.t
./src/register.php.t
./src/ppost.php.t
./src/users.inc.t
./src/remail.php.t
./src/pmuserloc.php.t
./src/finduser.php.t
./thm/default/tmpl
./thm/default/tmpl/pmuserloc.tmpl
./thm/default/tmpl/finduser.tmpl
./thm/path_info/tmpl
./thm/path_info/tmpl/finduser.tmpl
./include/core.inc

I think previous to touching those tonight they all were default 2.6.1 files. Remind me not to play with patch files doing them by hand, it's just stupid. Rolling Eyes

Data dump dumps all forum files, including the ones inside src/

Bummer Smile

Oh, well, I wonder how many changes I'd made in those files since 2.6.1.

Unless you made personal customization and not just patched from newer sources you won't have a problem.

I made a few customizations around the path_info sections.

Still I'll install it on another machine, us a backup and see how it goes.

One last question.

I've moved some backups in place. But I'm fairly certain that I'd made changes to post_proc.inc.t. The question is, if the upgrade comes accross a file that doesn't match it's diff file, what will the upgrade script do?

Actually that one appears to be a patch of yours I applied.

It'll replace the file with the new one and backup the old file.
