Hi,

I'm not sure if one can call this a bug or if this is intended behaviour (tested under 2.6.6):

If I as a forum admin promote someone to be a group leader, his rights as a normal group leader are all set to Deny.

This is quite surprising to me and the user as his promotion looks like a degradation at first ...

Anyhow the user can access the group manager and edit his own permissions (at least if he knows what he's missing), so you might not call this a bug Rolling Eyes

Even more astonishing: if the user is also the moderator of the forum/fora, he implicitly has all privileges (is there an override hack in effect?)

Regards,
Christopher

BTW: I do not agree about notifications being send in the users preferred language in multi-language fora (like this one).

Hi,
BTW: I do not agree about notifications being send in the users preferred language in multi-language fora (like this one).

That issue was already discussed in another thread some time ago. I guess, all agree that the current behaviour is not the right one in a forum with users in different language environments, but it might simply be too hard to fix....

The problem with notifications in different languages is based on 2 factors. Conceptually it is not the best idea to have a forum with many languages where the users who use different languages cross-post in different forums. The reason being that when a user posts a message, they are likely to do so in their language, so even if a notification is in German, the recepient may not be able to read the message that was written in Spanish, etc...

The technical problem is that the forum would need to generate the separate notification for each language that subscribers users, which would be rather slow.

Now on to the group manager:
The permission for group leader were not being set correctly due to a bug, which has now been fixed.

The case of the forums we run on our site is different. All posts are in English. However, the users are located in many different countries, and some, if not many, like to use GUI's in their native language. By the way, this is also the case in this forum. So there is no problem with posts in many languages, there is only an issue of notifications in many languages.

The quick fix I see is to install only the english language kit in such a FUD installation....
