Importing messages from newsgroups creates new members?? [message #6217]

It seems that the system is creating a new member for each new sender of a newsgroup message??

Is it supposed to work like this?

Is there an option to stop it doing this (I can't see one)...

Yes, that is intentional, otherwise all post would appear to have come from anonymous. You can change this behaviour fairly easily by modifying the nntp.inc script inside include directory.

I will add an option in the future allowing the admin to enable/disable this functionality via the nntp control panel.
