I set up two FUDforums on my local machine:

FUDforum: 3.0.2
PHP: 5.3.5
Database: mysql 5.5.8 (mysql)
Operating system: Linux 2.6.32-30-generic

I did not run the upgrade script on either forum1 or forum2.

I created some users and posts in forum1, then backed it up.

Imported that back up into forum2. "Import successful."

However, two problems now:

1.) on phpmyadmin, forum2's fud30_users table has no data. So forum1 was not actually imported.

2.) I can't login to forum2.

Is this a bug in the software or am I doing something wrong?

try Exporting your fud30 user data from forum 1 and import it into forum 2's

This worked, and now forum2 has all the data from forum1.

So apparently the import function will only work if fud30_users is manually imported on phpmyadmin?

This worked.

I then imported all of forum1 into forum2 but got an error (attached - import error).

So I created a new empty forum on phpmyadmin and imported all of forum1 - successful.

I'm not sure either but it looks like you are trying to import the user data as well which is already there and the system is rebelling try excluding the user data (I am assuming that your log ins and passwords are the same, and that you are using separate databases for forums 1 and 2.

This worked, and now forum2 has all the data from forum1.

An additional problem:

http://127.0.0.1/fud2/fudforum (forum2) presents an error (attached).

http://127.0.0.1/fud2/fudforum/index.php works fine.

But on forum1, index.php does not need to be explicitly part of the URL.

Any idea why this happens?

Do you know why I had to manually import the users table, and then everything works?

Actually no, however I have noted that there seem to be a few unresolved gremlins in 3.0.2 upgrade/installation which have yet to be fully addressed except the manually installed patches etc (though I'm sure they will be corrected in the next release).

The issue you addressed has been noted before but I don't have the knowledge to understand why it happens, though it appears to me that different systems/installations react in different ways.

Off hand I'd say the sub directory and files are not being fully recognized for some reason, clear your cache and try it again
.
Check to ensure your user data is still there and then try logging into Admin cp directly and rebuild your themes and run consistency checker to see if that helps.

It's a bug in admimport.php.
Edit the file, search for "STILL NEEDED???" and uncomment.
That code is obviously still required!
