Umlaut problem when updating 2.7.5. to 3.0.3 [message #166580]

i tried several times now to update the forum 2.7.5 to 3.0.0. to 3.0.3 but i allways have problems with umlaute in the msg files. i can change the charset in the language folder to ISO-8859-15 then the messages are displayed correct - but then the forum is displayed wrong (months, and headlines). when i set it to UTF-8, the forum files are dispayed correct but the messages (content) is messed up again...
what can i do to solve the problem?
