I have procmail piping some list to a forum. The forum is generating these errors when I go to read:

Warning: fopen(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/forumdata/messages/msg_1) [function.fopen]: failed to create stream: Permission denied in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/forum/theme/default/msg.php on line 169

Warning: fseek(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/forum/theme/default/msg.php on line 185

Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/forum/theme/default/msg.php on line 186

When I look at the permissions of the message file, I see:

-rw------- 1 forrie nobody 573 Mar 20 14:02 msg_1

And it seems to have inherited my ownership; which I'm a little puzzled by.

Should I do an "sudo -c nobody | /forumdata/scripts/maillist.php 3" in my procmail rc, setting my permissions in sudo.conf?

Forrest

I tried doing this in .procmailrc:

| /usr/local/bin/sudo -u nobody /forumdata/scripts/maillist.php 3

and it didn't work (tried quotes, too). If I leave it be, it works fine. Yet we have this problem with permissions on the resulting filet that's piped.

Anyone have a workaround for this issue?

See "message posts have no body" below..

It deals with two ways to resolve this issue...
