I am running linux and apache 1.3 When I attempt to access install.php in my browswer, it attempts to save the file instead of running it. I have php4 and the latest version of mySql. Do I need to add any lines to my httpd.conf file in order to run the install.php script?

You need to make sure your Apache knows to parse files with .php extension with php module. Read the php installation guide on http://www.php.net for those.
